Codex
Installed through mise, same machine context and same skills, on your own subscription.
- Module
- ai.codex
- Category
- AI agents
What it installs
- Codex through mise, which pins and upgrades it the way it does a runtime and puts it on the path of every shell — including the non-interactive one a remote client opens.
- The same machine context, in ~/.codex/AGENTS.md, and the same Pupitre skills.
What it asks you for
Nothing. It installs as it is.
Good to know
Your own subscription, again, and the same sign-in through a URL printed on first run. Claude Code and Codex can live on the same machine: they see the same projects, the same runtimes and the same databases, because there is only one machine. In the ChatGPT desktop app, Codex adds a remote project from a host alias of your ~/.ssh/config, so a Pupitre server reaches it through one host entry.
