Gemini CLI
Google’s open-source agent through mise, same machine context and same skills, on your Google account — the free tier is enough — or an API key.
- Module
- ai.gemini
- Category
- AI agents
What it installs
- Gemini CLI through mise, which pins and upgrades it the way it does a runtime and puts it on the path of every shell.
- The machine context in ~/.gemini/GEMINI.md and the Pupitre skills in ~/.gemini/skills and ~/.agents/skills, both of which Gemini reads.
What it asks you for
Nothing. It installs as it is.
Good to know
Your Google account, or a Gemini API key. On a server, sign in from a terminal with NO_BROWSER=true gemini: it prints the URL, you approve in your browser, and you paste the code it gives back. The free tier of a personal Google account is enough to work, which makes Gemini the agent to try before paying for anything. Gemini CLI has no command that says who holds the session, so the dashboard shows no account for it. Uninstalling takes back the CLI and the context this module wrote; ~/.gemini, with your credentials and settings, stays.
