GitHub Copilot CLI
Copilot’s terminal agent through mise, same machine context and same skills, on your Copilot subscription.
- Module
- ai.copilot
- Category
- AI agents
What it installs
- The GitHub Copilot CLI through mise, which pins and upgrades it the way it does a runtime and puts it on the path of every shell.
- The machine context in ~/.copilot/copilot-instructions.md and the Pupitre skills in ~/.copilot/skills and ~/.agents/skills.
What it asks you for
Nothing. It installs as it is.
Good to know
Your own Copilot subscription. On a server, copilot login uses the device code: it prints a code and the page to enter it on, and the app turns that page into a button. A token in COPILOT_GITHUB_TOKEN, GH_TOKEN or GITHUB_TOKEN works too. The CLI has no command that says who holds the session, so the dashboard shows no account for it. Uninstalling takes back the CLI and the context this module wrote; ~/.copilot, with your credentials and sessions, stays.
