Cursor CLI

Cursor’s own package under its version, the agent and cursor-agent commands, the Pupitre skills, on your Cursor subscription.

What it installs

  • The Cursor CLI as Cursor’s own installer lays it down: the package for this architecture under ~/.local/share/cursor-agent/versions, and the agent and cursor-agent commands linked from ~/.local/bin. The version is the one the installer names at that moment; nothing in the installer runs.
  • The Pupitre skills in ~/.cursor/skills and ~/.agents/skills, both of which Cursor reads. No machine context file: Cursor keeps its user rules in your account rather than on disk, so the skills carry what the machine has to say.

What it asks you for

Nothing. It installs as it is.

Good to know

Your own Cursor subscription. Sign in from a terminal on the server with NO_OPEN_BROWSER=1 cursor-agent login: the URL it prints opens in your browser, and the app turns it into a button when Cursor prints it in one of its terminals. Cursor publishes no checksum beside its package, so the transport is the only guarantee, and the download stays root’s until it is in place. Uninstalling takes back the package and the links; ~/.cursor, with your credentials and conversations, stays.
